Many learners seek to improve their spoken Greek. Most students recognize that sitting in a classroom and learning Greek does not necessarily enable them to speak it with confidence and in a way that is easily understood. Learning Greek in the classroom is useful, gives the student the important fundamental facts of Greek grammar and sentence structure. However, this cannot give you the confidence that comes from constantly speaking the language.
Immerse yourself in Greek. This immersion helps the brain internalize the language. Join an Greek class. Tell your family and friends that you are going to speak with them in Greek. Listen to Greek-speaking radio. Watch Greek or American programs on TV and go to see Greek-speaking films. Speak Greek every day.
Use the internet to find helpful resources and links to chat groups. Send emails in Greek and surf Greek websites. Listen to Greek audio books when resting or driving. Listen to music with Greek lyrics.
Speak Greek aloud while doing anything. Join and Greek-speaking club. You may be able to find one at your local university or start one yourself. Visit Greek restaurants where many of the employees will speak Greek. If possible, visit an Greek-speaking country.
Record yourself reading an Greek short story. Listen to this repeatedly.
